Miriam
My Miriam is a creative woman who excels in a number of arts: Singing, dancing, instrumental music and poetry; indeed many of the prints in this series depict dance, the most visual and dynamic of these arts to as a way of representing her multi-faceted talents. My Miriam believes that the basis for creating a healthy and lasting nation is a good family life. My Miriam led men and women by virtue of her female womanly sensitivity – vivaciously, wisely and attentively.
The print series “Miriam” derives from the Biblical text and from Mishnaic texts. It relates to interpretations written by traditional commentators, all of them male, and offers a different look at the tradition from within a feminist perspective that respects the past and takes it into consideration.
