Alice’s Adventure
Alice was the first major work in the technique I developed. Engagement with the amazingly inventive, absurd, illogical, unbridled and unrestrained story was a wonderful trigger for developing artistic means both under the eye of the video camera and in the variety of collaborations with the performance artists who joined me.
The characters appear as paper cutouts on the screen, from which they slide onto the stage as flesh and blood actors. The setting flows from one scene to another and from one space to another, things shrink and grow and everything is bewildering. What is reality and what is imagination?
